Most free PDF websites work by uploading your document to a server, processing it there and asking you to trust that the copy is deleted afterwards. PDFLight does not have a server to upload to. The whole editor is JavaScript running on your own machine, which is also why it keeps working with no network connection once the page has loaded.

Is PDFLight free?
Yes. Edit, merge, split, sign and convert as many PDFs as you like, with no hidden fees and no watermarks. It is funded by advertising on the content pages — never inside the editor.
Are my files private and safe?
Your files are never uploaded, because there is no upload endpoint. Everything happens on your device. You can verify it yourself: open your browser's network panel while using the editor, or simply disconnect from the network and keep working.
Do I need to install anything or create an account?
No. PDFLight runs directly in your web browser — nothing to install, no sign-up. It can also be installed as an app for offline use.
Can I sign or annotate a PDF?
Yes. Add text, highlights and your signature directly onto the pages — draw it or import it as an image — then save the annotated PDF.
