Privacy Policy

The short version

Your PDFs never leave your device. PDFLight runs entirely in your browser — there is no server that receives, stores or sees your files. We do not have an account system and we do not collect personal data.

1. Your documents are never uploaded

Every operation PDFLight performs — merging, splitting, rotating, signing, annotating, converting — is executed locally by your browser, using JavaScript running on your own machine. The files you open are read into your browser's memory and never transmitted over the network. This is not a policy choice we could quietly reverse: it is how the application is built. There is no upload endpoint.

2. Local storage on your device

To let you pick your work back up, PDFLight can save your recent documents in IndexedDB, a storage area that belongs to your browser, on your computer. This data never leaves your device and is never readable by us. It keeps at most your 20 most recent documents.

You can delete it at any time from the History panel in the app ("Clear all"), or by clearing your browser's site data.

We also store your language preference in localStorage (key pdflight_lang). That is all.

3. Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand how many people visit the site and how fast it loads. These tools are cookieless and privacy-friendly: they do not use fingerprinting, do not build a profile of you, and do not collect personal data. They tell us that a page was viewed — never who viewed it, and never anything about the contents of your files.

4. Advertising and cookies

PDFLight is free. To cover its hosting costs, some pages display ads served by Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service operated by Google.

  • Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • No ad is ever displayed inside the editor, and no advertiser has any access whatsoever to the documents you open — they physically never leave your browser.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, a consent banner lets you accept or refuse personalised advertising before any advertising cookie is set. You can change your choice at any time from that banner.

5. Third parties

The application loads the PDF rendering engine (pdf.js) from a public CDN. Loading a script from a CDN reveals your IP address to that CDN, as with any resource loaded on the web. It does not reveal anything about your documents.

6. Children

PDFLight is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any data from them.

7. Your rights

Because we do not hold any personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export, rectify or erase on our side. Data stored locally by the app is under your control and can be deleted at any time from your browser.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change with it. The core commitment — your files are never uploaded — will not change.
